Don't hesitate to contact us.

From 1997 to 2001, Nevus Outreach was a real "grass-roots" organization, operated completely without any staff of any kind. In 2001 the Board of Directors chose to hire professional staff with the goal of better meeting constituents' needs. The organization has grown steadily since. The Nevus Outreach staff have pledged to do their very best to serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact the staff at any time for any reason.

Lauren Isbell

Executive Director

Lauren Isbell became part of the Nevus Family when her youngest daughter, Maylee Joy, was born with a facial congenital melanocytic nevus in 2017.  After attending her first conference in 2018, she served as a volunteer on the Fundraising Committee prior to being selected as the new CEO of Nevus Outreach in 2019.  Lauren has been living the non-profit life since girlhood if you count slinging Girl Scout Cookies. Powered by strong coffee, cheap wine, and Broadway show-tunes she loves to be a connector of ideas, people, and goodwill.

A social worker at heart, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Arkansas State University and completed both a three-year training program, the Community Development Institute, at the University of Central Arkansas and Non-Profit Management Executive Education Progam with Northwestern University in Chicago. She’s worked at a half dozen non-profits and has had a myriad of opportunities to develop skills as a problem-solver and innovator while helping direct campaigns that shifted organizational culture. She’s always been a lover of the written word- published for the first time at age 8. She uses it to craft messages to donors, strategic partners, and others to drive intentional, strategic results.

She lives in the Mississippi Delta, just west of Memphis, Tennessee with her husband Tyler, their four children, their Siberian Husky, Maya, whom she adores, and her ungrateful rescue kitten Piper who was definitely the kids’ idea.

Whitney Casal

Director of Membership and Metrics

Whitney's longtime involvement with the organization and personal experience as a nevus owner provides a comprehensive background for serving the nevus community. She hopes to inspire and support others in their own experiences with CMN!  Whitney was born with a giant bathing trunk nevus and many satellites. Her family discovered Nevus Outreach in 1997 and has been involved with the organization over the course of many years!

After having attended numerous conferences since 1998, and serving on several committees (including conference and strategic planning), Whitney joined Nevus Outreach as staff in January 2021 as Member Specialist. She currently holds the position of Director of Membership and Metrics, and acts as the organization's international liaison.

Kim Hoogendorn

Conference Coordinator

Meet Kim, our amazing in-person conference coordinator. Kim has been an amazing asset to our team, helping us to host the 2022 conference. We are excited to see what Kim and the Conference Committee have in store for our 2024 conference!

Here's a little note from Kim:

Hi, I'm Kim. I am the mom of a 13-year-old nevus owner named Ethan. Ethan has a bathing trunk nevus and 1000s of satellite spots. He is very active and keeps us on our toes. I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 15 years. We also have two grown children, Seth and Sara. Our family enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, playing with our two granddaughters, camping, and watching Ethan at all of his sporting events. I was pleased to be the conference coordinator for the 2022 Nevus Outreach conference in Denver, and I look forward to fulfilling that role again in 2024. I look forward to seeing everyone in St. Louis next summer!

Lexi Vance

Accounting Support

Meet Lexi, she has been such an asset to our financial practices at Nevus Outreach. Lexi is a skilled accountant with experience in non-profit financials. We are so very lucky to have her on our team.

A message from Lexi:

My name is Lexi I live in Fredericktown, MO with my husband, Levi, and two small kids, Mila and Letty. We enjoy camping, trail riding, and anything that gets us outside together. I studied accounting at Southeast Missouri State University where I received my bachelor's degree and have since pursued self employment in the accounting industry after several years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Lauren and I connected virtually and created a lasting friendship well beyond the scope of Nevus Outreach. I have been a part of the Nevus family since 2021, and have continued to increase my role as needed to support the growing organization.

Stephanie
Allen-Virts

Executive Assistant

Stephanie is our Executive Assistant. Stephanie has worked with us on our Data Asset Management Project, to improve systems, and update processes prior to taking on a more permanent role with Nevus Outreach. We are excited to increase her scope to provide additional support in furthering our mission. Stephanie is a solution-finder and has a strong administrative support background. She comes to us with a degree in business with a concentration in human resources.

From Stephanie:

Hi, I'm Stephanie - I live in Jonesboro, Arkansas with my husband, David. We have two adult children, Samantha, our daughter is an EMT, Tripp is works in the travel industry, and our youngest, Kylan loves playing video games, and hanging out with his friends.

I learned about CMN when long-time acquaintance Lauren Isbell shared about her daughter Maylee's birthmark at lunch with mutual friends. I realized the similarities it had to my husband's birthmarks, one of which had been removed as a child without much of a diagnosis- and I now know he still has many 'satellites' on his trunk and medium nevi on his arm. Late last year, Lauren invited me to work on a Nevus Outreach project, and I am excited to take the next steps to support the organization's growth!
