Paul Coleman, Chair
Paul Coleman was born in England, raised in Wales and Ohio, attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he met his wife of 28 years. They have since moved from Michigan to North Carolina. In 1994 their daughter, Morgan was born; and in 1999 their son, Evan, was born with a GCMN. In 2000 Paul and his family attended their first Nevus Outreach conference. Since then the family has attended 5 other conferences. Paul’s research was presented in 2016.
In 2007, Evan was diagnosed with a melanoma arising in his nevus. After 6 surgeries, and 3 different chemotherapy trials Evan passed away in 2012. Evan’s courageous fight became an inspiration to Paul, who had owned his own consulting company, to enter the field of medicine both to conduct and support research into CMN and the complications; and fulfill a promise to Evan that he would help as many people as he could with the remainder of his life. In 2016, Paul became a Physician Assistant in rural North Carolina. At the same time his research efforts helped further the appreciation of hormonal influence on complications of CMN and brought focus to the age-related nature of those complications.
Paul is humbled to be a part of the Nevus Outreach board and hopes to contribute to the mission: Awareness, Support and Research.
