2016 Conference Speaker: Heather Etchevers

Heather Etchevers is a speaker at the 2016 Nevus Conference


Heather Etchevers is a research scientist with the French National Institutes of Health (INSERM). A native of Massachusetts and graduate of Wellesley College, she obtained her doctorate jointly from the University of California at Berkeley and the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris.

Dr. Etchevers is particularly interested in identifying causes of congenital malformations of tissues in the head, skin and heart, including large congenital melanocytic nevi, but also DiGeorge and other syndromes. She has published 44 peer-reviewed original research and review articles, and has taught continuing education courses for physicians in France, Spain, Italy and Thailand.

Supported by both Nevus Outreach and Naevus 2000 France-Europe, for which patient groups she is also a scientific advisor, Dr. Etchevers is interested in stem cell biology and human genetics, and currently is developing a model of nevus formation at the Université Aix-Marseille School of Medicine in Marseilles, France.
