The Nevus Outreach Staff
From 1997 to 2001, Nevus Outreach was a real "grass-roots" organization, operated completely without any staff of any kind. In 2001 the Board of Directors chose to hire professional staff with the goal of better meeting constituents' needs. The organization has grown steadily since.
Mark Beckwith has been facilitating the work of not-for-profit corporations for 30 years. Originally from Southern California, he met and married native Oklahoman Kathy Stewart in a previous life as a professional opera singer. In 1995, they retired from the stage and moved to Oklahoma. Now they live in Bartlesville where Kathy grew up. In 1996 they gave birth to Megan, who was born with a giant nevus. Kathy and Mark are two of the six co-founders of Nevus Outreach, founded in 1997. In 1999 Mark became President of Nevus Outreach. In 2003, the Board of Directors asked Mark to step down as President so he could head the staff as Executive Director.
When not promoting the mission of Nevus Outreach, Mark is a free-lance professional musician, leading choirs and orchestras, and a top competitor in international amateur radiosport competition (ham radio).
Taylor Scott is a Bartlesville, Oklahoma native who moved to Tulsa to attend the University of Tulsa. In May of 2012, Taylor graduated from TU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a minor in Non-Profit Business Management, for which he served as Nevus Outreach's first Intern. Taylor was in attendance at the 2012 conference assisting the staff; helping the conference unfold perfectly.
Manager of Financial Operations
Kent grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. After spending six years in the US Air Force, he moved to Oklahoma where he has lived for about twenty five years. He worked at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville for twenty years in various accounting and finance capacities. He is married and has four children. He enjoys spending time with his family and likes doing anything outdoors. He especially likes to visit the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri.
Director of Administration
Billie Roane grew up in Tulsa, but has traveled and lived in several regions across the U.S., working with service and non profit organizations. In 2012, Billie and husband Tom made their final move to Bartlesville to make their home and be nearer to their two grown children. Living in a city rich in art and history, has provided opportunities for both work and play in areas they are both interested in. They are members of the Price Tower Art Center, Theater Bartlesville. Bartlesville Art Association and Bartlesville Area Historical Society. Billie is a Bartlesville Area Chamber of Commerce Advocate and a member of the Oklahoma Institute of Child Advocacy Leadership Class of 2010. Billie works part time with Children's Musical Theatre as Office Manager and joined Nevus Outreach in August of 2013.
