Nevus Outreach receives $50,000 Grant
Nevus Outreach recently received a $50,000 gift from the Morgan Family Foundation. This grant is for general organizational support and for the completion of one special project. Nevus Outreach is sending brochures and information to every member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology.
In the early years of Nevus Outreach, informational brochures were mailed to every Dermatologist in the U.S. This ambitious project was conducted entirely by volunteers, who put our information into the hands of at least one of the members of the team of doctors treating a patient with a nevus.
This year, Nevus Outreach wanted to target all 55,000+ pediatricians in the U.S., since so many members tell of pediatricians who have never seen nor heard of a giant nevus. However, based on recommendations by Board members of the Morgan Family Foundation, and former President of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, Dr. Ilona Frieden at UCSF, Nevus Outreach chose to target Pediatric Dermatologists with this informational mailing. With over 500 members worldwide, Pediatric Dermatologists are many times the first specialists a newborn with a nevus will see. We were excited to be able to tell them about Nevus Outreach, put our informational brochures in their hands and provide instant support to patients with a giant nevus.
Many thanks to the Morgan Family Foundation for supporting the work of Nevus Outreach.
