Nevus Outreach Meets Endowment Goal

Nevus Outreach announces meeting the Endowment Challenge! In May 2008, the Bartlesville Community Foundation (BCF) accepted applications for their 2008 Endowment Challenge Grant Program. Nevus Outreach applied and was one of only five organizations approved for the program. After training with the foundation in June, each organization was charged with the task of raising $6,000 in new funds by December 31st, 2008, from donors who specifically wished to fund the endowment. The BCF would then add to these funds with a $3,000 matching grant.

On December 22nd, Mark Beckwith and Kathy Wright were pleased to take the final installment to Julia Crouch, Executive Director of the Foundation, completing the Challenge Grant. Each year, Nevus Outreach will receive proceeds from the investment of these funds while the BCF will handle all of the logistics and management of the funds.

Part of the criteria for qualifying included a strong commitment to Nevus Outreach though personal financial contributions by both board members and staff members. We are pleased to say that Nevus Outreach has had 100% participation by board and staff for the past three years. Nevus Outreach also committed to continue growing the endowment over the years.

“The fundraising for the endowment was a little slow at first, since we have so many excellent programs that donors want to support” said Kathy Wright, Director of Development. Then, in December, donor Carolyn Stewart, grandmother of Megan, issued her own challenge to Nevus Outreach donors. If we could raise $4,000, she would add the last $2,000 to reach the $6,000 goal. “Carolyn’s challenge raised the excitement level and we quickly met the $4,000 mark, due mostly to the leadership of Board President, Pierre Gremillion.”

Bartlesville Community Foundation Executive Director Julia Crouch says, “Our Endowment Challenge Grant program allows BCF to partner with Nevus Outreach in changing lives. It’s an honor for us to support their efforts. Our community has traditionally helped people far beyond our borders. Nevus Outreach is yet another example of our community demonstrating this quality.”

Programs like the Endowment Challenge Grant program are made possible through the public’s support of Bartlesville Community Foundation.
