2016 Conference Speaker: Karin Mallin

Karen Mallin is a speaker at the 2016 Nevus Conference


Karen Mallin is a Clinical Psychologist. She held dual appointments at the University of Miami in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Dermatology, working primarily in the area of Pediatric Behavioral Medicine. Her post-doctoral fellowship was in the highly-specialized area of Psychodermatology, the study of emotions, coping and mental health well-being as it relates to having a skin condition or disease. She has long been an advocate for children and families affected by diseases of the skin.

Dr. Mallin is published in several peer-reviewed journals, and has written articles for various skin disease foundations in the area of healthy coping and adjustment. She has been an officer of the Association of Psychocutaneous Medicine of North American for the past six years. Dr. Mallin obtained her degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her Master's of Science Degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and her Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University were in the fields of Child Development and Family Studies respectively.
