So, we figure if you help us raise money at the grassroots level, we can give back what you save us, so we've launched the Grassroots Fundraising Campaign.

Earn 2010 Conference Registration and Hotel Credits
Earn Free 2010 Nevus Outreach Conference Registrations
You could earn your entire family's registration costs to attend the 2010 International Nevus Outreach Conference to be held July 7-10, 2010 at the Marriott Solana Hotel in Westlake, Texas!
For every $500 you raise, you get one free child registration.
For every $1000 you raise, you get one free adult registration.
As an example, if a family of two adults and three children raises $3,500 in this program, we will waive their entire conference registrations costs.
Earn Free Hotel Room Nights
Raise more than it takes to waive your family's registration costs, and we’ll comp one night in one hotel room at the conference for every additional $500 raised.
Win a Grand Prize Family Resort Vacation
The top fundraiser during the campaign will win a fabulous grand prize – a family resort vacation! Details are not final at this time - you’ll have to trust us on that one for now, but think “airfare” and “Wyndham” and “one week.” The winner will, of course, be announced at the conference.
How to Participate in the Campaign
Set Up One or More Grassroots Fundraiser Pages
Make your plans for a fundraiser and then complete the Grassroots Event Fundraiser Setup Form.
A Nevus.org fundraising page will be created for your event and reviewed by Nevus Outreach. Once approved, simply direct donors to your fundraising page to make donations by credit card or optional pledge.
You can commit to more than one fundraiser– for instance you might want to hold both a Cask Night and a Comedy Night - the more the merrier. Go crazy!

What Kind of Fundraiser Should I Put Together?
The possibilities are endless - be creative! Check out our Fundraising Toolbox, which outlines a number of ways people have done this in the past. You’ll be amazed at how creative people affected by giant nevi can be, and you’ll be inspired to think up your own special ways to do it!
What is the Deadline?
All fundraising donations must be made or pledged prior on or before April 30, 2010. Pledged donations should be received by Nevus.org by May 31, 2010. Even if you are holding an event on a particular date, you should set your fundraiser dates much broader to allow plenty of time for people to make donations before and after your event.
We're Here to Help
We have a lot of stuff here in the office that can help you – brochures, invitations, thank you notes, banners, signs, the Nevus Quilt, etc. We also have lots of just plain hands-on experience helping everyone who has ever put a good foot forward on behalf of our great organization. We stand ready to help you, too.
Funds Raised Support the Conference
Monies raised as part of the 2009-2010 Grassroots Event Fundraising Campaign will go towards Nevus Outreach conference expenses.
In 2008 it cost Nevus Outreach $268 for each person that attended, which is substantially more than we take in for registrations. It costs money to provide meals, speakers and sessions on dermatology, surgery, insurance, research, appointments to see the world's top nevus doctors, and total state-of-the-art digital full body photography. We need many additional dollars, over and above registrations, to put our conferences on.
What About Conference Registration?
You still have to register for the conference.
Our conference registration announcement will be mailed on October 30. We hope to have conference registration open online on November 2, or shortly thereafter.
If you sign up to come to the conference after you have committed to one or more grassroots fundraisers, you will be allowed to use as much credit as your grassroots fundraiser goal is worth – for example, you say you’re going to have a birthday party and raise $500, you can apply that to one child at the time you register, even though the birthday party has not happened yet. If you wind up not raising your goal, you will, of course, have to pay for the registration (If you don’t raise it, we know where to find you, right?).
Don't wait to register!
Of course, we don’t want you to wait until the last minute to register (that makes it real hard to plan). Also the early-bird discounts will be available prior up to February 28, 2010, and you won't want to miss out.
To Be Clear:
- YES, you can register for the conference without paying immediately as long as you have committed yourself to grassroots fundraising at the necessary level.
- YES, you can receive a refund (in June) if you pay for your registration up front and then you do so much fundraising that you wind up covering all of your registrations.
