First Friday Update - July 3, 2009
Wow. Jet-lagged and not much sleep here! I am sitting in Brussels, Belgium on the way home from a fast-paced two days with Dr. Bernhard Wehrle-Haller in Geneva. He and his family were gracious hosts as I took a couple days to check on the progress of our (first) three-year collaboration which is drawing to a close.
There will be a full report on that next time. I can't think clearly enough to tell you about cellular and molecular biology right now.
However, I can tell you as I run past tourists, businessmen, countrymen and fellow-travelers in Europe, the Tour of France is about to start!
I will argue that cyclists are the most fit athletes in the world, especially ones who have trained to ride hundreds of miles day after day for a month. Let me tell you about one of them who is the father of a little boy who had a giant nevus. David Stockbridge died of complications from NCM when he was 7 years old in 1997. His dad Brian promised him that one day he would ride his bicycle across the country to raise money to combat his disease. This year, his dad Brian Stockbridge starts in Oregon on Sunday (July 5) and heads east. He will arrive in Georgia on August 3. Brian and I hope you will consider pledging to support his trek, in memory of his son David. A penny a mile equals $35 at the end of the ride - you can pledge any amount you feel is the right amount for you. Here are a number of links to learn more about Brian and his trek:

Ride, Brian, ride! And on behalf of all of us, good luck to you!
