First Friday Update - April 3, 2009
It seems like only yesterday when I wrote the last update. I hope this note finds you well. All of us here at Nevus Outreach want to thank you for your ongoing dedication to our organization.
Last week we met with 2010 Conference co-chairs Cari LaGrow and Shannon Ertner. It is safe to say that this conference will be our most organized ever (!) and I bet you anything it will be the best attended, too. At the gathering in the Poconos a few weeks ago, Rita Pink told me to plan on 500 people...

Thank you all for continuing to make our dream of in-person meetings of families affected by giant nevi such a successful reality.
Speaking of the conference: Last month at the International Society for Digital Imaging of the Skin meeting (ISDIS), Dr. Marghoob introduced me to Doug Canfield, CEO of Canfield Scientific, who makes the one-of-a-kind digital full-body photography system they are using at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. I am pleased to tell you that discussion is underway to bring this system to our conference, and to make Total Body Photography (TBP) available to anyone who is in the Nevus Outreach registry at no charge to them or their family!
Conference reminder - dates are July 7-10, 2010. Monday July 5th is the Federal Holiday for Independence Day. Why not make a week of it? There promises to be a lot of people there all week even though the conference starts Wednesday! The unbeatable room rate of $89/night will be honored two days before and two days after the conference. Come early! Stay after!
Speaking of Rita and adults with nevi, remember the Las Vegas gathering for adults with nevi is coming up in May! Contact Heidi in the office for more information.
Speaking of the gathering in the Poconos, a good time was had by all - from Friday to Sunday we had 51 people from 11 families affected by CMN! It was superb! Can't beat swimming, pizza and bowling ... photos here.
Fundraiser of the Month - a big thank you to Wendy Kushner who held a "Cash for Gold Party" in her home and raised $300 for Nevus Outreach! Thanks Wendy!
We have posted maps for Austria, Germany, Mexico and Switzerland showing the locations of people with nevi in those countries. This is getting exciting!
Keep an eye out for your April Newsletter in your snail mail. We hope to get it sent out before we have to rename it the "May Newsletter."
