Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Nevus Outreach establishes governance policy and long-range vision for the organization, and has oversight of the staff. The members of the board are all donors to Nevus Outreach, and share a major responsibility for both ongoing fundraising efforts and significant volunteer requirements.
Pierre Gremillion, Chairman

Pierre Gremillion came to his first Nevus Outreach conference in Salt Lake City in 2002. His son Gabriel had just been born with a giant nevus, and he was on a mission to learn as much as he could about it. Little did he know he would take hold of Nevus Outreach and revolutionize it! His wife Jennifer and their two boys Gabriel and Lucas have graciously allowed him to serve Nevus Outreach as Chairman of the Board of Directors for several years.
"I'm excited about the research we are doing, and how we’re spearheading this collaboration between institutions across state and national borders. I’m definitely very excited about that," says Pierre.
Danielle Stamatiou, Vice Chair and Secretary
Toronto, ON
Danielle Stamatiou of Toronto, Canada, will become the new Chairman of the Board of Nevus Outreach in July 2010. She is a Postdoctoral Scientist working at the University of Toronto where she helps develop alternative fuels.
Danielle's giant nevus covers her left leg from knee to hip. She also has numerous satellites with the one in her right eye being her favorite.
Ever since Danielle attended her 1st conference in 2004 in Columbus, Ohio she felt like she belonged. She further explains that, "I have great respect for what the founders of Nevus Outreach have created and vow to do my best to continue the wonderful job started by the chairs before me. I, together with our outstanding Board of Directors, plan on setting our goals high for Nevus Outreach. As incoming Chair, I look forward to taking our scientific research to unprecedented levels, to reaching out and connecting to people with nevus all over the world and to increasing public understanding and support."
Wendy Kushner
Edison, NJ
Wendy is originally from Riverdale, NY but has been a NJ resident for the past 30 years. She attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and earned a Masters in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Except for a few years home with Ariella and Maya, Wendy has been teaching Social Studies in a middle school since 1993. She loves teaching about different cultures around the world, and helping students realize their potential.
In her limited free time, Wendy loves to spend time with friends and family – daughters Ariella & Maya, and husband Michael. She is also lucky to live in the same state as her parents and sister. She is very active in her local Jewish community. She also loves to practice yoga and gets up with the sun each morning to do so.

Lauren Young

Lauren Young is the wealth management editor at ThomsonReuters, where she is developing personal finance coverage for ThomsonReuters.com and other platforms. She joined Reuters in April, after serving as the TurboTax Deductionista. She previously worked as a writer at BusinessWeek from 2003 to 2009, covering all aspects of personal finance. Before joining BusinessWeek in 2003, Young had a similar beat as a senior writer at SmartMoney. She also covered mutual funds and capital markets for Dow Jones News for three years and was a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal. Young is a 1989 honors graduate of Penn State University, and she received her masters in journalism from Northwestern University in 1993. She served as as the president of the Medill Club of New York City for six years and was awarded the 2003 Northwestern University Alumni Association Service Award. She is also on the boards of Choice USA and Penn State University's Schreyer Honors College. Lauren is the mother of Leo, born in 2004 with a giant nevus on his back and loads of satellites.

Dr. Miguel Reyes

MIGUEL REYES-MUGICA, MD, graduated from the National University of México (UNAM) and completed his training in Pathology in that institution in 1986, attending the most competitive training program in his native country. He served as Attending Pediatric Pathologist at the National Institute of Pediatrics in México City for four years.
In 1990, Dr. Reyes moved to Chicago to continue postdoctoral training and research studies at the Children's Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University. In 1994, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he launched the program of Pediatric and Developmental Pathology. He served as Director of that program for 14 years, ultimately becoming Professor of Pathology and Pediatrics. Since 2001, he is also Editor in Chief of the Journal "Pediatric and Developmental Pathology," the leading journal of the specialty, and official vehicle of the Society for Pediatric Pathology (USA and Canada) and the Paediatric Pathology Society (UK and the rest of Europe, Australia and other countries).
In 2008, Dr. Reyes was appointed the Marjory K. Harmer Memorial Endowed Chair in Pediatric Pathology, and accepted the position of Chief of Pathology at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pathology, at the Department of Pathology, UPMC.
Dr. Reyes has a long-standing interest in neural crest disorders, with melanocytic lesions in children at the center of his academic and research efforts. He has published close to 100 articles, lectures extensively around the world, and is a member of Nevus Outreach's Nevus Science Group, Scientific Advisory Board, and Board of Directors. Dr. Reyes has addressed the Nevus Outreach International Conference since 1998 in Orlando.
