Bio
Allison Hurwitz is a Psychotherapist and Art Therapist who has a private practice in Princeton, NJ where she works with clients of all ages. Allison has a Master’s degree in Social Work from The Hunter College School of Social Work, a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from New York University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Pennsylvania. As a result of her dual training in social work and art therapy, Allison is skilled in the use of art and play therapy as well as verbal psychotherapy, which is especially useful when working with children and adolescents.
Prior to entering private practice, Allison worked as a counselor and art therapist in public, private and special education schools in New York City as well as in outpatient child psychiatry clinics, an adult partial hospitalization program and nursing homes. Allison’s areas of interest include: identifying and building upon existing strengths, creativity and self expression, encouraging self acceptance and compassion, fostering resilience, teaching mindfulness, and living with chronic illnesses and physical differences.
